The Security
Communications Department is the pulse of the Wichita Public Schools
for critical communication services. School district dispatchers work
twenty-four hours a day to coordinate and communicate vital
information throughout the district in a timely manner. Monitoring
activities at school district buildings and dispatching resources to
campuses as necessary provides essential support and protection for
the school district. Services include: dispatch services; radio
communications; coordination with 911; alarm monitoring; severe
weather reporting to campuses; and Crisis Team communication. Security
Communications Dispatchers annually handle over 200,000 calls annually
for information and assistance.
