The Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools delivers an extensive series of innovative programs and services, which are designed to prevent and reduce drug abuse, gang activity and other forms of youth violence. School district staff members, students and parents are an integral part of program development and delivery and are also the primary recipients of the substance abuse and violence prevention services. The elementary programs focus on providing information on safety, conflict resolution, drug abuse, violence and peer pressure. The secondary program emphasizes lifelong choices, alcohol and drug-abuse issues, anger and conflict management, gang violence, and DUI prevention. Drug/violence prevention specialists tailor the programs to fit the individual audience.
