SAFETY TIPS FOR PARENTS
WHEEL SAFETY

Inline Skates and Skateboards Safety Gear

Almost every child has “wheels” of some form.  Whether it’s a bicycle, skateboard, scooter, or roller blades, there are important safety measures that you and your child need to observe.

  • Always wear a helmet.  It should set squarely on top of the head and cover the top of the forehead.
  • Stop at all stop signs and observe other traffic signals.

  • Use proper hand signals for turning and stopping.

  • See and be seen – wear light colored clothing.

  • Check to be sure equipment is safe and properly adjusted.

  • Use marked paths and safe areas where possible.

  • When riding on the street, go in the same direction as car traffic.

  • NEVER ride double.

  • NEVER attach yourself to a moving vehicle.  (This also applies to sleds.)
