P7260 SCHOOL SECURITY UNIFORMS

BOARD POLICY:

School Security personnel are to be readily identifiable by carrying an ID card, displaying a badge, and wearing an approved uniform with identifying patch stating "Security, USD 259." Such uniforms are to be worn at all school functions when School Security personnel are on duty and representing USD 259.

Administrative Implemental Procedures:

1.   School Security personnel are required to be in proper uniform at all times during any school function while they are on duty and representing the school system. Such uniform is to be in good repair, clean, and fitted properly.

2.   Classification of uniforms

a.       Class A (basic)

1)      French blue shirt (long/short sleeved) with patch and badge

2)      Navy blue trousers or slack/skirts with French blue striping on trousers

3)      Black shoes and black belt

 

Note: Wearing of jackets with Class uniforms is optional; when worn, jackets are to

be navy blue and bear proper Security patch.

b.      Class B

1)      Blazer (school colors) with proper Security patch

2)      Color coordinated trousers or slacks/skirt

3)      Color coordinated shirt or blouse

The Class B uniform may be worn with the principal’s permission on special occasions and on a temporary basis only.

3.   Newly employed School Security personnel shall be provided a basic uniform issue after 30 days of satisfactory employment. This basic issue shall be the navy blue regulation Class A uniform. Specifically:

a.       Two trousers/slacks

b.       Two shirts (long/short sleeved)

c.       One pair of boots or shoes

d.       One lined jacket

e.       Three security patches

f.         One trouser belt and one duty belt

g.       One nameplate

h.       Appropriate coats and raingear when School Security are required to be outdoors for prolonged periods during inclement weather.

i.         One silver colored metal Security badge.

4.       As a supplement to this basic issue, new employees shall be given priority in the use, without charge, of clothing that terminating employees have returned. This includes basic issue as well as clothing purchased with uniform allowance.

5.   School Security personnel will receive a uniform maintenance allowance at the negotiated rate per year, to be disbursed as negotiated, to Security personnel who have been employed in Security for six months or longer. The uniform allowance will be paid in voucher form. The voucher is to be used at specific businesses as determined by the District.

6.   Any modification to the prescribed uniform or uniform accessories, including defensive weapons, must have the approval of the Director of the Safety Services Department.

7.   Failure to wear the prescribed Security uniform may result in disciplinary action.
