P1364 KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION

BOARD POLICY:

Kindergarten orientation should inform and familiarize parents of prospective kindergarten pupils about entrance requirements, building facilities, and the instructional program. During second semester, principals shall canvass their school community to locate prospective kindergarten pupils. Parents will be invited to orientation activities prior to the opening of school.

Administrative Implemental Procedures:

1.      Items to be requested by the school include the following:

a.       Birth certificate

b.      Pupil information form

c.       Kansas Certification of Immunization

d.      Health examination report card

e.       Dental care card

f.        Kindergarten information card

g.       Full payment of kindergarten fees

2.      Information and materials to be made available to parents include:

a.       Your Child Entering School

b.      Parents, Please Prepare Your Child for School

c.       Supplies to be furnished by parents

d.      School handbook (or equivalent informative data)

e.       Information pertaining to integration and transportation

f.        Kindergarten Early Childhood — Student Learning Outcomes

3.      Suggested orientation procedures will be made available to principals.
