P1363 ELEMENTARY LUNCH PERIOD ACTIVITIES

BOARD POLICY:

Supervised lunchroom and other activities are provided for elementary pupils who do not go home for lunch. Overall supervision is the responsibility of certificated personnel.

Administrative Implemental Procedures:

1.      All pupils attending elementary schools are permitted to participate in the food service program.

2.      Implementation of the program for lunch period supervision is conditioned by the particular situation existing for each school. The principal shall make assignments of personnel available to provide an effective level of supervision.

3.      Pupils who remain at school for lunch should be given a period of supervised recreation.

4.     Instructional paraprofessionals or other persons may assist with lunchroom and playground supervision; however, a certificated employee must be charged with the overall responsibility.
