P1358 MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL LUNCH PERIOD ACTIVITIES
BOARD POLICY:
Supervised lunchroom and other activities are provided for pupils grades six through ten, all of who must remain on campus during lunch period, and for pupils in grades eleven and twelve who do not opt to leave campus as part of their open lunch privilege. Overall supervision is the responsibility of certificated personnel.
Administrative Implemental Procedures:
1. All pupils may participate in the food service program provided by the district.
2. Implementation of the lunch period supervision program is impacted by the particular situation existing in each school. The principal shall be responsible for assigning personnel to insure an effective level of supervision.
3. Open lunch is a privilege available only for pupils in grades eleven and twelve and may be rescinded or modified at any time by the building principal for individuals or groups of pupils.
4. Principals are not authorized to extend open lunch to grades six through ten.
5. Students in grades 6-10 may only be checked out for lunch by their parent or legal guardian.
6. Principals may modify lunch periods for grades six through twelve in special circumstances with the approval of the Superintendent.
7. Noncertificated personnel may assist with lunchroom and activity supervision; however, certificated employees must assume overall supervisory responsibility.
