P1224 LENGTH OF SCHOOL YEAR

BOARD POLICY:

In Unified School District 259 the school year shall consist of not less than 465 school hours for pupils regularly enrolled in kindergarten, not less than 1,116 school hours for pupils regularly enrolled in any of grades 1-11, and not less than 1,086 school hours for pupils regularly enrolled in grade 12.

Administrative Implemental Procedures:

1.      The office of the Superintendent or the Clerk of the Board shall notify the State Department of Education on or before September 15 in each school year of the provisions of this policy.

2.      The district will continue to develop its calendar and structure its daily schedules on the basis of school days of no less than 6 hours and 30 minutes in length.

3.      Deviations from the traditional patterns will normally occur only as a result of district wide emergencies or to meet unique program needs of individual schools.
